The Treehouse of Your Childhood Dreams: Glamping on a Northern California Vineyard

Glamping Vineyard Treehouse California

Who else spent their childhood dreaming of possessing a secret treehouse hideaway they could get in touch with their personal?

Whether or not your personal fantasy treehouse was the quintessential children-only clubhouse (à la To Kill A Mockingbird and The Sandlot) or a thing a bit much more sophisticated (like the Swiss Loved ones Treehouse), there&#8217s just a thing universally cozy however thrilling about possessing your personal private small space tucked away amidst the tree canopy.

And if you&#8217re like me, that childhood dream is nevertheless alive and as powerful as ever&#8230no matter how old you get.

I&#8217ve slept in my fair share of imaginative accommodations more than the years, but my current keep in a treehouse in the Santa Cruz Mountains most closely resembled the ultimate &#8220secret hideaway&#8221 fantasy from my younger years&#8230but with a grownup twist.

For starters, it&#8217s a correct-blue, ACTUAL treehouse there are no stairs right here my friend—you&#8217ve got to climb the ladder if you want into the clubhouse 😉. There&#8217s a pulley program for having your luggage up there (HOW FREAKING COOL), as effectively as electrical energy, WiFi, and a heater for these chilly NorCal evenings.

As for the views? Nicely, you&#8217re surrounded by rolling hills, forested mountains and vineyards, and the elevation is higher adequate that you can see allllll the way to Monterey Bay.

Sounds quite dreamy, correct? Welcome to Lago Lomita Vineyards!

We booked our keep in the Lago Lomita treehouse by means of Airbnb, and as quickly as we stepped foot on the house, we could inform it was a spot that was genuinely unique.

Establishing the vineyard was clearly a labor of adore for owners Robin and Mark following greeting us upon arrival, the initially point they did was invite us to tour the house and hear the history of Lago Lomita.

Then, it was time to verify into—er, climb into—our treehouse!

What is it essentially like to invest the evening &#8220glamping&#8221 in a treehouse?

In a word: MAGICAL.

But to be significantly less cliche (and much more descriptive), hanging out in the treehouse all afternoon and evening was insanely peaceful. Derek and I checked in about 2pm, and only left the comfort of our small hideaway to use the bathroom and to take pleasure in a sunset stroll amongst the vines.

We had been mesmerized by the endless shades of blue and green visible from the treehouse: the vibrant green vineyards beneath us, the dark forested hills and sage-colored shrubs, the foggy gray-blue coastline, the dark blue mountains in the distance and the cornflower sky&#8230

I also loved basically leaning back in the Adirondack chair and hunting up at the trees straight above us, with the wind rustling the leaves and the golden afternoon sunlight filtering via the branches.

Largely we soaked in the silence, which was broken only by an owl hooting in the distance or a twig snapping someplace in the woods.

As the hours passed, we watched the fog roll in and absolutely blanket the coastline in a layer of soft white—one of my preferred quirks of the NorCal coast.

We even had a picnic dinner up in the treehouse! Prior to checking in, we stopped in at the nearby Summit Retailer to grab sandwiches, a bottle of wine, rosemary crackers, a wedge of brie, and salami. And for dessert? A mini banana cream pie (for me) and a slice of strawberry cheesecake (for Derek).

Sunset was beyond amazing—it began off painting the landscape in shades of vibrant gold, deep copper and amber, then softened into pastel pink, pale purple and child blue. Just pure magic from start off to finish!

As the sun sank beneath the hills and the evening temperatures dropped, we retreated inside our glamping tent to snuggle up beneath the comforter. With the added warmth of the little transportable heater and the string lights lining the tent, we had been basically as cozy as could be as we drifted off to sleep.

What else really should you know ahead of booking a keep in the Lago Lomita treehouse?

While the treehouse is equipped with WiFi and electrical energy, it is crucial to bear in mind that you&#8217re nevertheless sleeping in a tent in a tree. That implies you want to be cool with providing up just a couple of modern day comforts&#8230like a bathroom!

We did have access to a gorgeous, totally functioning bathroom inside the key home, but climbing down the ladder in the dark to pee ahead of bed was a liiiittle nerve-wracking.

It can also get windy and chilly up in the treehouse, and there’s constantly the possibility of sharing the space with some bugs and little critters—it’s their residence you are going to, following all!

More than the previous quite a few years, the Santa Cruz Mountains has turn out to be a single of my preferred below-the-radar regions in California&#8230and destinations like Lago Lomita Vineyards are specifically the purpose why.⠀

I adore getting distinctive, funky accommodation to keep in (and this treehouse definitely IS incredible) but what I loved even much more about this knowledge was escaping to someplace so peaceful and absolutely immersed in nature.

“Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their personal freshness into you, and the storms their power, when cares will drop off like autumn leaves.”—John Muir

Have you ever glamped ahead of? If so, exactly where and what had been the accommodations like? Would you ever sleep in this treehouse Airbnb in California?
