Possessing lately changed owners, Rumpus Area has a brand new menu and is complete of new surprises.

Six months ago, this petite-sized restaurant in the skinny streets of Darlinghurst was an Italian bar. But it is because changed hands and it is new providing is actually pretty distinctive.

Firstly, the Italian is gone. Properly type of. You can nonetheless order a carbonara and mushroom risotto, along with a handful of other Italian dishes. A handful of Australian classics like fish and chips have also been thrown into the mix. But Rumpus Room’s new speciality is actually Malaysian.

Sydney rejoice, since we’ve got a new spot for genuine sambal eggplant and beef rendang.

Even though the menu is a mix of cuisines, what is constant is that just about every dish has a dwelling-style excellent. It is clearly on the menu since it is a speciality of the head chef. These guys are just dancing to the beat of their personal drum, and it is to the advantage of Sydneysiders.

Going to on a Friday evening, I ordered a slew of dishes off Rumpus Room’s new menu, and every thing was fresh and complete of flavour. The highlight was the grilled sambal squid, the beef rendang a close second. And there actually wasn’t a lowlight.
