Cremorne Point Reserve, Lower North Shore, Sydney, Cremorne Point to Taronga Zoo walk

With epic mansions, an ocean pool and ‘the bridge’ as a backdrop, this is one particular of my favourite Sydney Harbour walks.

If you have performed Spit Bridge to Manly and Taronga to Balmoral, and seeking for a further fantastic North Shore walking track, this one’s a ripper.

A total of six kilometres, one particular-way, the comparatively quick stroll requires in organic bushland, harbour beaches, quite gardens and streets filled with fuck-off Mosman mansions. There’s also views of the city skyline, Sydney Harbour and Mosman Bay.

Then rounding out the cast of this blockbuster, there’s Robertsons Point Lighthouse, Cremorne Reserve and Maccallum Pool. Plus, like an annoying youngster, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera Residence are constantly there, beneath your ideal arm. And all only 20 minutes by ferry from Circular Quay.

So what are we waiting for? Let’s get these sneakers laced!

Receiving to Cremorne Point

About Cremorne Point there’s tonnes of unrestricted street parking but driving would be ruining aspect of the exciting of this harbour stroll. It’d also imply getting to stroll the six kilometres back to get your auto – no thanks!

As an alternative, catch the ferry from Circular Quay to Kurraba Point Wharf – it is then a 10-minute, 700-metre stroll to the entrance of Cremorne Reserve, situated on Bogota Avenue.

And you can catch the ferry back to Circular Quay from Taronga Zoo Wharf at the finish.

Cremorne Reserve – running down the western side of Cremorne Point peninsula is a harbourside nature reserve that feels like a slip of paradise in the massive smoke. There’s bushland, formal lawns and down-ideal amazing views of the CBD, Sydney Opera Residence and Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Maccallum Pool – comply with the pathway by means of Cremorne Reserve and you will stumble across this oceanside public swimming pool. Maccallum Pool nevertheless has its 1920s character, as effectively as a timber deck littered with sun bakers. Well… clearly not the day I visited – naturally the pool had been drained for its weekly clean.

Robertsons Point Lighthouse – at the southern tip of the peninsula there’s the Robertsons Point Lighthouse. Stroll out onto the gangplank if you dare.

Lex and Ruby Graham Garden – on the eastern side of the peninsula, you will uncover this wonderful garden complete of ferns, colourful flowers and exotic plants. How did this oasis come about? Back in 1959, neighborhood residents Lex and Ruby Graham started turning what employed to be a rubbish dump into the organic wonderland you see currently.

Mosman Bay – heading north, you have the quite Mosman Bay on your ideal and some epic Mosman mansions on your left – you will want to choose your jaw up off the pavement for these ones. Track on previous the historic Old Cremorne Wharf, about the bend in the bay, till you get to Mosman Bay Wharf on the other side.

Rapid side note: Toilet anxiousness is a true point for me. So if you are something like me, you will be calmed to know there are ample public toilets along this walking track, such as right here at Mosman Bay Wharf. There’s also a healthier quantity of drinking fountains.

Mosman suburbs – subsequent, take the methods behind Mosman Bay Wharf up into the ‘burbs. This is exactly where points get a small confusing (and fairly hilly). Head south along Mosman Street, which turns into Trumfield Lane. When you get to the t-intersection, make a left-turn up McLeod Street. Retain climbing the hill, more than Musgrave Street and more than Raglan Street. At this point you will come to a dead finish. Do not panic! There’s some hidden stairs that’ll lead you down to a path that is a small unsure of itself but maintain going.

Sirius Cove Reserve – eventually you will make it to Curraghbeena Road and the dog-friendly Sirius Cove Beach. Of course, you can completely quit right here for a swift swim.

Camp Curlew – on the eastern side of Tiny Sirius Cove is exactly where the old artists’ Camp Curlew ran from 1890 to 1912. It is not complicated to see why the surroundings have been irresistible to painters back in the day.
