Lighthouses in South Coast NSW – SOLOPASSPORT

Are you 1 of these, like me, who enjoy lighthouses? The function of a lighthouse is uncomplicated appropriate? However each and every lighthouse is distinctive and the architecture and history behind each and every lighthouse is exclusive.

Virtually each city in Australia about the coast has a lighthouse. So, final weekend I went on a road trip exploring the lighthouses in the South Coast area of New South Wales (NSW).

Wollongong was my very first city. It is an effortless getaway from Sydney, about 90 kilometres drive from Sydney. The coastal city is property for two lighthouses. The very first was was constructed in the year 1871 and is in the Belmore Basin.

The second lighthouse is the Flagstaff Point Lighthouse. This was very first lit on 23 July 1937. The lens applied dates back from 1862 and the tower stands 25 metres higher.

About 99 kilometres drive from Wollongong is the Culburra Beach. This was my second cease. Culburra Beach hosts Crookhaven lighthouse. The lighthouse is about 500 metres of stroll (actions mainly) from the vehicle park. The lighthouse was constructed in the year 1882 and is constructed of timber. There are two view points close to the lighthouse and they present spectacular views of the oceans.

My third cease was Ulladulla. It is about 80 kilometres from Culburra beach. The Ulladulla lighthouse, also recognized as Warden Head lighthouse, was installed at the existing place in 1889. The structure is about 40 feet higher.

Even even though my subsequent lighthouse is a museum, it is 1 of the stunning lighthouses. It is in Narooma along with the visitor centre. The important piece of this lighthouse is the original light from Montague Island Lightstation.

I was definitely shocked when I heard of my subsequent lighthouse – Cape St George Lighthouse in the Jervis Bay National Park. I was shocked since Australia does not have as well quite a few ruins. And this lighthouse is the ruins of a lighthouse. The lighthouse was constructed in 1860 and was functioning till 1889. The price to enter the national park is AUD 13 per automobile.

My final lighthouse throughout this trip was the Kiama Lighthouse. The lighthouse was founded in 1887 and is an wonderful spot to invest an evening watching the sunset. It is an active lighthouse and is situated close to the Kiama blowhole.

I know I did miss out some of the other folks and if you know quite a few extra of them, please leave a comment, so I can go discover them &#x1f642 .
