Vietnam Waterfalls- Pongour Waterfall – Planet Travel Bug

Pongour Waterfall, Dalat, Vietnam

Waterfalls may well not be the very first issue that comes to thoughts when you consider about Vietnam. In truth you may well not associate the two at all. I know I didn’t….till I came across 1 of the most wonderful photographs I had observed: four monks in their red robes walking more than a waterfall!!! And photographed with a extended exposure….I fell in enjoy instantaneously.

Searching at this photo just about every day on my wall (of course I had to purchase it!), I  knew my Vietnam itinerary will be developed with that in thoughts. In truth I may well have taken the selection the moment I saw the pic in the photography shop.

The waterfall I am speaking about is Pongour waterfall, situated about 50km from Dalat city, in central Vietnam. Pongour is not the most popular nor the greatest waterfall about Dalat but it was my favourite. Getting a bit additional from the city, there had been hardly any tourists, which is a major benefit compared to the other waterfalls. Pongour is rather a spot for locals, who enjoy to come right here for picnics.

The only issue that you will need to be conscious of (and I wasn’t) is that through dry season the volume of water is diminished substantiallu. You can essentially stroll via it…. Thus, visualize me sitting there, waiting for my monks to come so I can take my personal awesome image and  hang on my wall. And waiting…and waiting….and waiting… but they didn’t come :-(. Alternatively a modest group of incredibly cheery college girls arrived and began playing in the water even though I was attempting to get a photo. Superior sufficient for me! And for the million time I wished I had a tripod!

The waterfall is layered and it is not to tough to climb all 7 layers, despite the fact that not certain in wet season. I consider there may well even be indicators warning you not to climb.

The Dalat area is identified for its a lot of waterfalls (about 12 from what I understood) and the most popular are: Elephant, Prenn, Datanla. It is surely worth to take a day tour and go to as a lot of as doable.

I also reached the waterfall as aspect of a complete day tour (other waterfalls integrated) with 1 of the founders of Quick Riders motorbikes trips (be cautious at the fake ones!). Properly in truth the entire tour and my entire quit for a handful of days in Dalat was with the ultimate aim of seeing this waterfall.
