Singapore is one of the top destinations to visit in Southeast Asia. I came to Singapore after my travel in Malaysia! It was quite expensive compared to other Southeast Asian countries like Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia, but it is definitely worth visiting for a few days. its amazing buildings and clean streets will wow you and mixture of different ethnic groups create special vibes here in Singapore. Then, here are top 10 things to do in Singapore.
Top 10 things to do in Singapore
Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, Sri Mariamman, and more
The first thing to do in Singapore will be visiting Chinatown! Chinatown in Singapore is not the biggest in the world, but you can taste a bit of China here in Singapore! At first, you can start your own Chinatown tour by visiting beautiful Buddha Tooth Relic temple and museum. Secondly, there is an Indian temple called Sri Mariamman near Chinatown food street. Hindu temple in Chinatown…what a weird combination, right? Maybe the mixture of a different culture in the same city makes Singapore more interesting. After checking out tourist attractions and souvenir shops, you will be quite hungry.

If you did some research, you already know Singapore is so expensive. But don’t worry, eating at Chinese food street in Chinatown will help you save a bit of money on food! And the food is also nice. If you want, you can visit other streets in Chinatown, there are full of Chinese restaurants that are very authentic and really delicious! Even my local friends told me they didn’t even know about these places and they loved the food! I’m sure you will enjoy it. (I lived in Beijing and other cities. And I traveled many parts of China, I know what it is to have authentic Chinese food! 😉
2.Wander around Little India Singapore
The second thing on my Top 10 things to do in Singapore list is to wander around Little India Singapore! There is something very special about Little India. The first time I visited Little India was in Penang and I fell in love with it instantly. After Penang, I went to Little India in Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, and Malacca. Of course, I couldn’t miss out Little India in Singapore! Beautiful flowers, the incents, the colorful buildings, the smell of delicious Indian food, ladies in their beautiful Sari…! Being in Little India, Singapore will open all of your senses in many different ways. There are many lovely colorful houses and street art everywhere in Little India in Singapore. Also, this time I found really nice parks with different themes! You should definitely check out!
Ipoh Street Art & Penang Street Art
After wandering around Little India, you can’t resist the temptation of delicious Indian food! You can go to nice restaurants, but you need to try Indian food at a place where locals eat! It’s not fancy at all but the food is really good and you can choose any food you want without spending so much money here at Tekka Center(Pusat Tekka). It’s a food court on the first floor of Tekka Center, and there are hundreds of little food stalls from different countries. You can eat whatever you feel like! But I recommend trying Butter Chicken and garlic cheese nan! It’s so tasty and addictive! If you are vegetarian, there is vegetarian Indian curry and other options that you can choose from.
After wandering around Little India in Singapore, the third thing to do on my Top 10 things to do in Singapore list will is to drop by Muslim Street, especially on Saturday. There is Saturday market in Muslim Street in Singapore! It is not so big like the ones in Chiang Mai, but it’s good to walk on the street full of life. If you are a guy, you can have a Singaporean haircut here as well! And then, you can take a look or visit a cool mosque called Masjid Sultan.
4. Haji Lane
The 4th thing on Top 10 things to do in Singapore list is to go to Haji Lane! Haji Lane is a really cool place you can’t miss out especially at night. It has full of cool street art and cute bars around Haji Lane! At night, there are different bands playing music on Haji Lane. If you aren’t into clubbing, it’s really nice to chill out at a bar that you like. Unfortunately, it’s not that cheap to take a drink on Haji Lane. But you can drink a bit cheaper if you take advantage of Happy Hour. After the Happy hour, one pint will cost at least 8 SD.
5. Boat Quay and Clarke Quay
If you are tired of busy Singapore, the next thing you can do on Top 10 things to do in Singapore list will be taking a long walk along the river at Boat Quay will make you feel calm and relaxed. Have you ever seen El Gato de Botero in Barcelona? One of Botero’s work Bird is also here at Boat Quay in Singapore! Also, you can cross Cavenagh Bridge, check out Dalhousie Obelisk, and other tourist attractions along Boat Quay.
Clarke Quay is an area where a few minutes away from Boat Quay and it comes alive at night. Clarke Quay has lots of nice restaurants and bars along the river. When the sun goes down, colorful lights are on and Clarke Quay gets busier. That’s why it is a very popular place to eat and drink for both locals and tourists.
Have you seen this Statue? It is called Merlion which is a mystical icon of Singapore. Merlion is a creature that has Lion’s head and Fish’s body. Why not take a look at this symbol of Singapore in person and take a cheesy photo of you in front of Merlion?
7.Singapore Botanic Gardens
The 7th thing to do in Singapore will be visiting Singapore Botanic Gardens! Singapore Botanic Gardens is open to everyone for free (except for National Orchid Garden). It is a beautiful huge Gardens. It’s a perfect place to take a slow walk or relax by sitting on the green grass with family and friends. It’s really nice being in such a green place in a busy city like Singapore.

8.Go to Gardens by the Bay
People who are interested in traveling in Southeast Asia must have seen a photo of Gardens by the Bay. Gardens by the Bay is one of the main attraction that draws people to Singapore. That famous picturesque Supertree Grove is truly impressive every time I visit Gardens by the Bay. If you don’t feel like doing all the things on my Top 10 things to do in Singapore list, but going to Gardens by the Bay is a must! It’s so green walking here and the light show called Gardens Rhapsody is really amazing! Garden Rhapsody at Gardens by the Bay is at 7:45 pm and 8:45 pm.

9. Marina Bay Sands
Going to Marina Bay Sands is also something you can’t miss on Top 10 things to do in Singapore list! The building itself is amazing and the view from the top is so cool. You can look down the whole Singapore from the top of Marina Bay Sands. Also, you can enjoy the cool infinity pool on the top! The ticket costs 23 SD for adults.
At night, you can have some food enjoying the river view and then watch light & water show Wonderfull at the waterfront of Marina Bay for free.

Do you miss beach time in Singapore? Don’t worry! In Singapore, you can have both city life and beach life. There is 2 Km long man-made beach in Sentosa. You will be disappointed if you expect Palawan beach and Siloso beach are going to be the beaches like Thailand, Indonesia. But if you lower your expectation and just want to enjoy the sun and the sand, it’s good enough! You can also go for surfing at Wave House in Sentosa!
If you are not into beaches or surfing, there are other activities you can do in Sentosa. There are an aquarium Underwater World Singapore Pte Ltd, Universal Studios Singapore, Adventure Cove Waterpark! There will be no time for you to be bored in Sentosa!
