Packing is an art. It requires endless creativity and a lot of practice.
There is no one particular in the style business that knows travel greater than Louis Vuitton himself. In 1835, at the age of 14, he left Anchay- a compact settlement in eastern France — and traveled to Paris on foot. The journey took him two years!
He started his profession as a box-maker – a hugely-respected craft as many boxes and trunks have been applied for packing and carrying clothes and many each day objects. He rapidly became an professional, as Sensible Packing was his experience, generating traveling extra fashionable and functional with his revolutionary concepts. His styles have been functional, difficult-wearing and lightweight.
In 1875 he developed the initial vertical travel-wardrobe, featuring two compartments for greater storage, top to a large achievement and good demand for such trunks. His workshop specialized in travel and packing. The “Volez, Voguez, Voyagez” exhibition in Paris showcases the refined luxury and excellence which has been the tradermak of the property more than the centuries – of course I’ve visited the exhibition and I’ve written all about it.
Now back to modern day instances, Louis Vuitton applied all these years of experience to aid the 21st century style aficionado travel comfortably with some recommendations from the LV art of packing. I use all the recommendations pointed out in LV’s visual guide (these and a lot of extra) so that I can make the most of my trips with comfort and luxury.
My Staycation was at the splendid King George Hotel in Athens – needless to say that I packed a handful of essentials to appreciate a trendy evening in the heart of Athens!
