10 Superb Books to Add to Your 2019 Reading List

Hey guys! I hope you are getting a very good 2019 so far. Right now I wanted to share my best reading suggestions for this year.

2018 wasn’t my greatest reading year (I had so significantly reading to do in grad college), but I nonetheless managed to finish about 25 books.

Right here are the ones I couldn’t place down:

The Mother Tongue: English and How It Got That Way by Bill Bryson. A fascinating history of the English language. Suggested for all language nerds and Bill Bryson fans.

On Writing by Stephen King. Component memoir, component writing guide. All in all a excellent study.

Calypso by David Sedaris. I generally appreciate David Sedaris’ brief stories, and his most current collection didn’t disappoint. Funny, quirky, heartfelt.

The Story of the Lost Kid by Elena Ferrante. 1,500+ pages and 3 years later, I’ve lastly completed the Neopolitan Novels! The Story of a Lost Kid, the fourth and final book of the series, is a lovely, heart-wrenching, and in the end satisfying finish to the series.

Educated by Tara Westover. The memoir of a lady who grew up in a fundamentalist loved ones in rural Idaho and went on to be educated at Harvard and Cambridge. A harrowing but lovely study.

Locations I Stopped on the Way House by Meg Charge. A book of brief stories about living in New York, surviving your twenties, and getting appreciate (or not). Written by Meg Charge, 1 of my favored bloggers. Super relatable and poetically written.

Am I There However? By Mari Andrew. An illustrated book on the journey to adulthood by Mari Andrew, 1 of my favored illustrators on Instagram.

The Course of Adore by Alain de Botton. A novel about the course of a fictional marriage, from the meet-cute to old age. Extremely exciting point of view on how appreciate adjustments more than time.

In Order to Reside by Yeonmi Park. A single woman’s harrowing practical experience of escaping North Korea. Couldn’t place it down.

A Brief History of Almost Anything by Bill Bryson. In this book, Bryson explains the history of biology, geology, physics, and far more. It produced me so significantly far more interested in science, one thing I in no way believed I’d say.

So these are my suggestions! If you have any for me, leave them beneath in the comments. As generally, I’d appreciate to hear them.

Side note – am I the only individual who didn’t appreciate The Heart’s Invisible Furies? Some of the characters seemed so unrealistic (e.g. Cyril’s parents) and the humor was a tiny attempt-tough. Also, I enjoyed A Small Life but located some components tough to stomach. Anybody else?

What about you? What’s on your reading list for 2019?
